JULIA MICHEL

JULIA MICHEL joined Strumwasser & Woocher after clerking for the Honorable
N.R. Smith of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Julia has experience
in appellate practice, consumer and civil rights class actions, and legislative advocacy.
Julia earned her law degree from the University of Washington School of
Law, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif national honor society.
During law school, Julia externed for the Honorable Ricardo S. Martinez
of the Western District of Washington, received the Pro Bono Honors award
for her pro bono service, and published a note on the environmental review
process for exporting liquefied natural gas in the
Washington Journal of Environmental Law & Policy, where she also served as an Associate Editor-in-Chief.
Julia has drafted legislation, lobbied lawmakers, and testified in legislative
committees as an advocate for the public interest. Before law school,
Julia negotiated the passage of campaign finance, elections, voting rights,
and government transparency laws in Vermont. Having caught the political
bug, Julia volunteered during law school on the campaign to pass the Washington
Voting Rights Act and drafted language to strengthen its provisions.
A native East-Coaster, Julia graduated from the University of Vermont with
honors and degrees in Political Science and Global Studies. She is admitted
to practice in Washington and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
